Fish in Banana Leaf, Fried Eggplant and Vegetarian Thali at Suruchi in Kolkata

Img_9976

This is a women's owned cooperative restaurant in Kolkata that serves traditional Bengali food. Both fish and eggplant are featured heavily in Bengali food. I can't remember the name of this type of fish, but it's a local variety of fresh water white fish that wouldn't translate. Behind the restaurant and also part of the co-op are a handicrafts workshop, girls' school and a retirement home for elderly women.

Gin and Tonic on the roof of Hotel Howard Sanovar, Agra, India

(download)

I'm guessing there's no HFCS in this tonic, unlike in the U.S. Can anyone read the ingredients in Arabic?

I tried them with lemon and tabasco, but next time I think I'll stick to oysters.

wtf* mango drink on Go!India Air

The brand name of this tasty (but overly sweet) in-flight mango beverage caught my eye. Turns out wtf here stands for What Te Fun, whatever that means.
